Other people's server room heat issues

Jack, over at The Tech Teapot, posted a link the other day to an amusing story from The Daily WTF (an excellent site for real-life tech humor), regarding someone's heat issues in a server closet.

I'll never forget the day that all 3 air conditioning units failed at my previous employer and we started to use portable air con units that had about 1/10 the power.

I'd just like to point out this *wasn't* my responsibility being a lowly helpdesk thing at the time!

I look back and chuckle but I don't remember it being funny at the time.

Yea, I'm sure it was no laughing matter at the time!

A long long time ago, I did tech support for BellSouth.net, and invariably there would be a hurricane slamming Florida or the Gulf, and we would STILL get phone calls asking why the internet was down.

I understand how help desk can be, even when it's not your responsibility to fix it.
